Another week, another AI tool update! OpenAI has just released the first major update to the ChatGPT interface since it launched.

Built with GPT-4o, canvas has been designed to make your ChatGPT experience even better when it comes to writing and coding. It's like having a super-smart collaborator right by your side as you edit and revise your work.

Canvas 101

  • Clearer interface: Canvas opens in a separate window so no more long chains of back-and-forth messages for edits and revisions.

Who can use it?

Canvas is currently in beta for ChatGPT Plus and Team users. Enterprise and Edu users are next in line over the coming week. Free users haven’t been forgotten either but they’ll have to wait until it’s out of beta.

ChatGPT should suggest canvas when it thinks it’ll be helpful but if you’re itching to give it a go now, just include "use canvas" in your ChatGPT prompt or manually select it in the model picker.
